Column: Chad Salisbury's energy highlights 5th annual willie thrower quarterback camp

NEW KENSINGTON - It's always fun to watch people who enjoy what they do work. West Liberty football coach Chad Salisbury fits the bill. While he was the lead instructor at the 5th annual Willie Thrower Quarterback Camp Saturday at Valley High School, Salisbury was constantly on the move.

​He was constantly talking. Salisbury is self-assured and wants to espouse as much knowledge as he could in the two-hour window he had. Salisbury kept everyone on their toes during his second straight year at the camp.

Salisbury would emphasize modern techniques to passing. Routinely talked about bad habits he's seen and would blow the whistle at different times during drills to try and throw everyone off balance.

Salisbury has plenty of knowledge when it comes to throwing footballs. He played collegiately at New Mexico State and Buffalo. Salisbury then went on to play in the Arena Football League for a number of teams.

Salisbury helped California (Pa.) reach the NCAA Division II playoffs last season while serving as the offensive coordinator. He will have a tough task to turn around West Liberty. The Hilltoppers haven't finished with a winner record since 2014.

West Liberty last made the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2009 when it upended Edinboro in the first round before being bounced by Cal.
