Shaler graduate Colleen Davis loses close fight with Elise Soto, Earns Praise from Jake Paul

Colleen Davis took a rematch against a dangerous power puncher only two months after suffering a nasty cut above her eye. While her opponent Elise Soto was able to draw blood from Davis again, the Shaler graduate went the distance in a split-decision loss, 39-37, 37-39, 39-37 Tuesday at the Oculus in New York.

The fight was contested as part of the open workouts for the the third fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, which is set to take place Friday at Madison Square Garden. Davis (4-3-1) and Soto, who is signed to Most Valuable Promotions which was co-founded by Jake Paul, improved to 8-0.

Soto's win over Davis was the first time she didn't knock out her opponent.

"I am going to continue growing and learning from my mistakes," Soto said during a post-fight interview. "I'm still becoming the fighter I wanted to be so I'm going to keep cruising from here."

Soto stalked Davis throughout the entire fight. Soto wanted to pin Davis against the ropes and land power shots. Davis was able to fight back with heavy volume and stung Soto with an uppercut early in the fight.

Paul was interviewed by the broadcasters following the fight and said he enjoyed the fight between Soto and Davis.

"That was incredible and fun to watch," Paul said. "Every single second of the fight was action and that's what it is all about."
